About Late Trains
An independent record of how late Pakistan Railways trains run, day after day, kept since July 2026.
What's here
Per-train history built from recorded station arrivals — reported by Pakistan Railways' own systems, and by GPS where those are missing: typical (median) delay, on-time percentage, day-of-week patterns and per-station breakdowns, alongside the published timetable for each service.
How a delay figure is made
- Collect — a collector polls the public live feed on a fixed interval and archives every response verbatim, append-only, before any processing. Every later figure is recomputable from that archive.
- Arrivals from Pakistan Railways — where the feed reports a station arrival and its delay, that is stored as given, labelled on the page as coming from Pakistan Railways' own record.
- Arrivals from GPS — for the rest of the journey, the train's GPS trail is compared against station locations. Entering a station's geofence stamps the arrival time for that service date. This path depends on the upstream GPS feed, which goes quiet from time to time — recorded arrivals do not stop when it does.
- Compare to the timetable — arrivals are matched to the schedule in force on that date. Timetables are versioned, so a schedule change does not re-score older history. The difference is the delay shown on every train page.
Statistics appear for a train once it has at least a week of usable history. When the upstream GPS feed goes quiet, GPS-derived arrivals pause and resume on their own; gaps stay gaps. Operator-reported arrivals are a separate path and are not affected by a GPS outage.
Independence
Late Trains is an independent service — not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Pakistan Railways. Timetable and position data originate from publicly accessible sources; all derived statistics, and any errors in them, are our own.
